Celani Family Vineyards announces winelist for the 2020 Northville Food & Wine Festival

It is particularly fitting, and some might say even destiny, that the Celani’s ancient coat of arms consists of three silver-masted ships sailing from a grove of green poplars over a rough sea in search of a new land. Vincenzo Celani came to America in 1912 from his native town of Ferentino, near Rome. He settled in Uniontown, Pennsylvania and began raising his young family, and working in the mills in the area before moving to Detroit and pursuing a career with Ford Motor Company.


In little more than one lifetime his descendants have succeeded in transplanting so much of the enduring culture of their native land to their new home in America. Now it is yours to enjoy with the introduction of the Celani Family Vineyards.



2017 ROBUSTO

This 100% Celani Family Estate Merlot offers a fruit forward kaleidoscope of aromas; mountain grown boysenberries layered with creme de cassis, fresh violets, blackberry liqueur and anise. Following are secondary aromas of pencil lead, toasted almonds and suede. The wine showcases delicious concentrated flavors of exotic berries framed within a fine matrix of tannins. This wine is designed to drink in its youth and its approachable quality makes it easy to enjoy glass after glass.


2018 ROSE VENCENZA

The 2018 Celani Family Vineyard Vincenza Cabernet Sauvignon Rosé is made from 100% Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Barrel-aged in neutral French oak barrels for 7 months, this wine is exploding with an aromatic mixture of strawberry jelly, fresh Bing cherries, cranberries and pears. Subtle notes of freshly picked wild flowers, watermelon rind, and kiwi fruit really make this wine dance aromatically. The flavors are a compelling and refreshing expression of youthful red and pink fruits. This Rosé is a light, seamlessly balanced and delicious wine.


2016 CELANI CABERNET SAUVIGNON

The 2016 Celani Family Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, aged 20 months in 90% new French oak barrels and was bottled without fining or filtration.


An absolutely gorgeous wine! A kaleidoscopic powerhouse of aromas reveals ripe blackberries, candied black raspberries, violets, pencil lead and freshly milled suede. Beautifully subtle suggestions of dark cocoa, chaparral and brick dust. What a delightfully complex wine, greeting the palate seamlessly with an abundance of savory black and purple fruit flavors that go on and on.


2018 CHARDONNAY

The 2018 Chardonnay is made from Celani Family Vineyard’s estate grown in the Oak Knoll District of Napa Valley. The Chardonnay was fermented on its own lees in 40% new French oak barrels with the remainder in self-stirring concrete eggs. Malolactic fermentation was inhibited in order to retain the natural grape acidity.


The result is a wine exploding with aromas of crisp green apples, spring wildflowers, pineapple and kiwi fruit. As the wine opens, secondary aromas of tangerine peel, apple blossoms, beeswax and roasted almonds begin to emerge. The palate is simultaneously seamless and rich with a weight and viscosity that is balanced nicely by the intense yellow orchard fruit flavors. This delicious wine has a lasting finish with persisting, lively acidity.


2016 ARDORE CABERNET SAUVIGNON

The 2016 Ardore is made from a meticulous selection of 10 barrels of Cabernet Sauvignon from the Celani Family Wines. Aged for 22 months in 100% new French oak barrels, Ardore is never fined nor filtered.


Rivaling the quality and excellence of the 2015 Ardore, this 2016 vintage release represents the sophistication and pedigree of the Coombsville AVA in Napa Valley.


This Cabernet sings vibrantly and effusively from the glass with aromas of inky, ripe boysenberries and blueberries, mocha and violets. Winding through these powerful notes are gestures of black cardamom, fresh suede and Ceylon cinnamon. Possessing all of the hallmarks of a powerfully concentrated Napa Valley Cabernet with elegant and savory flavors that are seamlessly balanced and integrated with fine grained tannins and a finish that never ends.


2016 TENACIOUS PROPRIETARY RED

This vintage of Tenacious is made from Celani Family Estate Merlot (70%) and Cabernet Franc (30%). Incredibly complex and mineral driven, 2016 Tenacious bursts with aromas and flavors of ripe blackberries, black cherries, apricot jam, ultra-ripe strawberries, tobacco and sun-baked rock. Tertiary notes of pencil lead, fresh wildflowers, licorice, soy and cola add to the heady aromatic landscape. This wine offers a seamless palate of powerful flavors supported by a backbone of savory, fresh & lively acidity leading to a satisfyingly long finish.
